iPhone 4s charging issue

Here goes.....

I've always used a USB adapter in the 12v auxiliary socket in my previous D3 without any issues.Since owning the D4 I've used the Land Rover IPod/IPhone lead which is used in the cubby lid. However if I connect the iPhone 4s to charge through the USB in car charger in either of the 2 auxiliary sockets in the front of the car it just switches on/off/on/off all the time,so I tried SWMBOs iPhone 3gs and that's fine,I've even tried different leads and another USB in car charger but still have the same problem Banging Head .Last night I tried it again and noticed that it didn't happen when I am driving, only on tick over.So makes me think is the IPhone 4s drawing more power than either the auxiliary socket/USB charger can cope with ?

I use a belkin micro usb charger with original apple usb-iphone lead, never had a problem yet with 3G,3GS,4 and now 4S,don't think the 4S uses anymore juice than its predessors Thumbs Up

dcm, if you feel the need I'll gladly swap your 4s for my 4, I'm sure the 4s will work fine with the D3 and pretty confident the 4 works with the D4. Whistle

To muddy the issue some more, the iphone lead wont charge my ipad when plugged into the PC USB but it will charge the iphone. Same lead plugged into the 13a charger will charge the ipad. I conclude the ipad is fussy on the voltage and the PC must be just low enough not to trigger charging.

As the 4s is an ipad in all but screen maybe its a bit fussier on volts.

iPhone 4s charges fine if using the belkin USB cig adaptor from argos, the ipad needs a 10w supply which most USB can't do.
