iPhone ‘hard’ reset

Got an old iPhone I’m planning to use as a home music controller, nothing else.

It was mine then went to SWMBO and at some point was linked to an itunes account of hers

She never used the account and cannot remember the password Rolling Eyes (she writes all her passwords down but can’t read her own writing..... Rolling Eyes )

Phone needs that password to allow a full reset to factory setting and enable all the crap on it to go too.

Asks for password repeatedly while trying to use it, can press ‘ignore’ but a PITA.

Anyway to recover her password (she has tried but can’t answer any security stuff, etc) or, preferably, just wipe the phone clean?

Recovery mode. Start iTunes on a computer. Switch off iPhone. Press the home button and hold it down while connecting it to the computer.

If she happens to have another device logged into the same account you can reset via that as described in the link, otherwise it will be via security questions also as per the link above.

Had to do similar when selling MIL old phone on eBay
for her and needed to log it out (no hard reset will log you out of your Apple ID) but luckily she had a MacBook air and iPad too.

OK, will try those suggestions Thumbs Up

She has no account on other device (as said, never used it) and trying on the official way it says her account name doesn’t exist, despite it being on the phone in front of me, and first security question is her name which it says is incorrect when typed (I don’t think that is because she can’t read her own writing....)
