Wiggs you are a iphone god , its working perfectly on the car.
It seems to have one side affect on the phone tho, if you turn it off and power it back up it only shows the itunes logo and the usb wire, it needs irecovery to make it boot again.
Ill dig about and see if there is a fix.
Ill upload a rar with what i used and web links to my server and post a link to it here for speed of download for forum members.

Soted it , here is what i did from the beginning on my ihpone 3G which was on the latest software.
The software in this rar is for the ihpone 3G ONLY iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw
I used Itunes software to downgrade to version 3 by pressing the Shift button on my pc and restore button in itunes software
then directing it to the iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw file in this rar
It will fail at the end with a error which aparently is normal, i then used iRecovery to complete the downgrade process.
Run and install from the rar "libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.12.1.exe.
Extract all the files in the rar to your desktop.
Run a Dos comand screen on your pc with the phone connected and in recovery mode , showing the itunes logo.
type these commands pressing enter after each.
cd desktop
irecovery -s
fsboot
wait for your iphone to reboot as normal it will then work again,
now the problem is when your iphine is turned off it will be in recovery mode again
you need to type the following into the dos command screen now to reair this fault.
setenv auto-boot true
saveenv
/exit4)
Then Reboot your iPhone (keep holding home + sleep for 10 seconds and it will now boot as normal again.

Why is it Landrover can get it right for the FL2 with the 3GS iPhone being compatable on softwear V3.1.2 and not for the Discovery 3 & 4, are the operating systems for the audio and bluetooth that different between cars?? Surely if they can get it right for one they must be able too throughout the range!!

iPhone 3GS running 3.1.3 is fine in my 2008MY D3 XS. No idea what PIT version its running though. Still has the cradle and roof fin, I think MY2008.5 removed these, so maybe the PTI software is different ??
