iPhone and Maps

Just a couple of questions re iPhone and mapping stuff, would be useful if Mrs DSL picks up on the hints for Chrimbo.

1) Is there an application to load up & display 1:50k or 1:25k OS maps? Use Mem Map 2004 on a Garmin PDA but looking for something better.

2) Are the maps on the iPhone preloaded or do they download when you set up a route? Thinking what would happen if using sat nav for routing but no signal.

Cheers

Derek, looking in the app store there doesn't seem to be an application of this type; there are some that convert lat/long to OS co ordinates. The maps on the phone seem to download as you go, although not being techy I could be wrong.

Same conclusion here, now looking at the pocket PC/Mem Map route (or Fugawi or anket). Sad
