Guys,
Can't find any information down here in Australia regarding iPod Adaptor for D3, so thought you might be able to help me.
Questions:
- what does it look like ?
- what features does it have ? eg. does the steering wheel controls work with it ? does it charge the iPod ?
- do you select it using the AUX on the stereo ? Does the AUX jack still work for other things or is it disabled ?
- does it work with the iPhone 3G ?
- how much does it cost ?
- what is the part number to order ?
I have a kit in my BMW 3-Series and the screen goes into "BMW" mode and you can select songs, you have to set up BMW01, BMW02 ... BMW05 playlists. I hope the D3 kit is more flexible than that.
Thanks,

Oops, I just found this:
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic22812.html?highlight=iphone
So my remaining questions are:
- what are the RCA connectors for ? is that a switch next to the RCA connectors
- does the AUX connector on the back of the cubby box still work ? eg. for laptop input ?
- anyone tested it with an new iPhone G3 ?
Also, can someone confirm if I have this right about how you use it:
A: Select AUX on Stereo
B: Choose music on iPod, start it playing
C: Use the iPod OR steering wheel controls to skip track and change volume ?
Right ? Does the steering wheel do anything else ?
Thanks,

Finally, what is the audio quality and volume like on the new iPod kit ?
Using the 3.5mm AUX connector on the back of the centre cubby box is VERY quiet and audio quality is average. New MY15 TDv6 D4 in Buckingham Blue

Will hopefully be able to answer most of your questions by next weekend if our stuff from Nick arrives by then
As far as the low volume on the aux adaptor goes , I have a Belkin connector which includes a built in amplifier . This helps to increase the volume to more acceptable levels .

Scott...
- what are the RCA connectors for ?
these are for audio inputs from other mp3 players etc
is that a switch next to the RCA connectors
yes to defeat or enable inputs
- does the AUX connector on the back of the cubby box still work ? eg. for laptop input ?
yes
- anyone tested it with an new iPhone G3 ?
yes, plays music etc fine but no 'phone control of course
Also, can someone confirm if I have this right about how you use it:
A: Select AUX on Stereo
B: Choose music on iPod, start it playing
C: Use the iPod OR steering wheel controls to skip track and change volume ?
yes
Right ? Does the steering wheel do anything else ?
yes, steers the D3 quite well
also the Red hangup 'phone control if you have it, swaps between shuffle play
Finally, what is the audio quality and volume like on the new iPod kit ?
the volume etc is better than through the 3.5mm socket but still not quite up to CD or Radio levels,
takes about half an hour to fit, I believe the manuals and fitting instructions are available on
