Ipod again - sorry for rehashing!..

Hi - newbie here - I have read most of the Ipod posts....
Just to clarify, is it true that the connector in the back console is NOT on the commercial discos?>

If so, what options does that leave me with?.
whats a LR ACM unit?
whats the Audio Connectivity Kit?
I can get a iPod Audio Connectivity Accessory Kit for $364.05 on the web.. is it neccessary to spend this much?. easy install?.. I have read that this Nick guy (everyone keeps talking about!) supplies them.. whats his price?.
anybody got a nice neat Ipod holder they can recommend.. something small and cool!>.
Thanks again and apologies for bringing the whole Ipod issue up again..

C
