iPod connection quality - ACM or Aux socket?

I'm new to the site, so apologies if this is not Forum etiquette. Embarassed

I have a D3 2006 SE and want to play my ipod through the stereo. After trawling through the forum, It seems that I need an ACM(which can be fitted in the glovebox). I believe this ACM fits directly into the rear of the stereo.
I have already tried playing the ipod through the rear aux jack, but I find the music quality pretty low/poor.
The question is..is the quality better through the ACM than the rear Aux jack(is it worth the effort?). Also, does the acm allow me to use the stereo controls already on the steering wheel, to change tracks and volume on the ipod.
I'm not fussed about iphones and don't want aftermarket controls cluttering up the steering wheel.
Thanks for any help Very Happy

I have a little trick to demonstrate the difference. Play Extreme Ways by Mobi at full volume via the Aux jack then same via the ACM. Sound quality is streets apart, great for fealing the muzak man!! Even SWMBO was impressed. And my D3s are peasant S & SE spec cars so none of your Bang & Whatsit sipper 53 speaker HSE setup. Deffo ACM. Thumbs Up

Let's you use steering wheel controls. Thumbs Up

I find the aux input pretty poor, you can hear a lot of noise on it too.

Does the ACM work with the Iphone using the steering controls ?

Where's the best place to buy the ACM?. I asked my local dealer and they didn't have a clue, donkeys!!.
Is it worth getting the Land Rover ACM or a cheaper version?

What kind of price are we talking about? Shocked

Cheers Thumbs Up
