Ipod & Iphone
I am in the process of fitting a Ipod connection for my disco 3. You can also connect your Iphone to this connection if I understanf it correctly. How will the telephone function now or will it function through the Ipod cable.
Thank you for the adviceproper planning prevent poor performance
Phone side of things will work over bluetooth as usualThe End

As Slimer say, Bluetooth as normal. The ipod connector allows your iphone to operate as an ipod and charges it, but offers no phone functionality, you either need to pair with the LR bluetooth if fitted or use a suitable bluetooth device.

New poster, please be gentle!
Sorry to hijack this thread but I'm want to integrate my iPhone G3 with my 2005 HSE. I currently use an in car charger and 3.5mm jack plug for the iPod functions but it's really messy.
Is it possible to buy the proper land rover kit (LR004805) without the cradle (but with lead) and if I was able to, would I be able to use the controls on the steering wheel to control the iPod functions on the iPhone.
Sorry if this has been covered before but couldn't find anything as specific!
New version of the LR kit now comes with a cable instead of a cradle so buy one of them from Nick @ Yeovil and it'll all work as you want The End

welcome to the site Luther
that latest version ( I'm not sure if it is the part number you have quoted though ) of the Ipod integration kit only comes with a cable not a cradle for controlling the Ipod features, the connectors typically reside in the upper glove box as per:

I believe the Ipod kit only controls the Ipod side, you will need a Bluetooth kit of some sort to control the 'phone parts, either the factory opne your HSE should have or an aftermarket one like a parrotand theeeeennn......???
...or, if you do not have the LR bluetooth kit, buy one of the new Parrot kits with iPod interface built in and get the best of both worlds (iPod connectivity and handsfree calling).

I've got the LR Bluetooth built in for the phone side so I think I'm covered. Just getting fed up of trying to grab the phone to skip songs!

Is the new ipod system easy to fit?
Dealer is quoting £360 fitted inc VAT also does anybody have a pic of the main unit, it looks like a Dension Gateway?
Quite easy for the average DIY'er
Should take about an hour
£360 is a bit steep
1 hour labour time should be charged by your dealer..
i sell the ipod unit to forum members for £150.07
send me your email address and i'll email you the fitting instructions so you can have a look at how it fits

Toughest bit is getting the cente of the glovebox out. Other than that, I'd recommend a Brodit iPhone holder and a Dashmout for teh D3. Bodsys Brake Bible
