iPod playing

Hi

I know I've posted this question before, but my ipod is driving me up the wall in my 2011 Disco4.

I have a Nano 5th Gen iPod which 90% of the time starts back at the alphabetical list when I start the car, even after only a short time out of it. The blurb says it should restart at the track, or point where it stopped.

I've tried pausing it on the screen, switching off and any number of combinations, but still the thing refuses to restart at the correct point

Any ideas?

Anyone got the same iPod problems?

It played perfectly for a day and started where it finished, and then this morning back to the alphabetical list! Evil or Very Mad

Ah well, try again..... Crying or Very sad

Does anyone have the same problem as me, i.e the ipod not restarting where it left off?

In order for it to restart where it left off how do you do it? Does the audio have to be switched off as well as ignition? I've tried all ways including disconnecting the ipod, pausing etc etc. Sometimes it works and sometimes not!! Mad Mad Mad

Anyone out there who can tell me how it works?

I noticed on my D4 (using iPhone) that it resumes where it left off if I don't turn the audio system off manually, just turn engine off. If you get a message asking you to connect audio source then that should mean it is working fine....

I have the Ipod Nano 5th generation and unless I do not use the car for a few days, it always starts from where it finished last. I presume that the only reason that it starts at track 1 after a few days is that the ipod's internal battery has gone flat. I also have a 16gb flash drive plugged in, this always restarts from the last position but obviously it does not have an internal battery like the nano.

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated! Smile

I have the Nano 5th Gen too but I'm going to try playing my iTunes library off a 32gb usb stick and see if that starts from where it ended!

I listen to Audio books in the car - a book of 12 to 16 hours listening time is usually broken up into 2 or 3 files. I did not have an Ipod at first and were very dissapointed that the USB drive would start at the begining every time.... this was after litening fo about 50 minutes at a time.... now see how long it takes you to fast forward to that point.... Big Cry

Then I read the manual... it said that only an Ipod would keep its position... so bought a Nano Gen 5.. and it works great - but now the USB also holds position..... Confused I have all my music on the USB now and Books on Nano.

Nano never dropped position, even after taking it out and loading more books. Thumbs Up

Hi

Thanks

Well, tried the USB this morning with audio cd's on it and just got an error message asking to connect when it patently was connected!!

Gave up on that and plugged the ipod in, the darned thing worked, so who knows what's happening!

Anyone else get the error message with the USB drive?

Anybody got advice on how to get the USB to work.

I plug the Memory stick in with my music on and I get an error message. Twisted Evil

Is there something I should be doing (apart from chucking the whole caboodle out the window? Or is it that I've downloaded the wrong typw of audio file onto the stick? Confused

As DiscoDad said, the music needs to be in MP3 format on a USB stick, iTunes stores them as MP4 so unfortunately you can't just copy the music files from iTunes to the usb stick.

Converted my iTunes MP4a to MP3 using the little free utility suggested on this forum and they all play on my Memory stick.

Funnily enough since doing that, my iPod has worked better, i.e starts where I left off!

Thanks for all your help :t
