Is it just a Centurion thing?

I recently visited the LR dealer in Centurion as I am looking at a D4. So I walked into the New car showroom, stroll around the cars hoping for a sales person to come to me, after peeping through all the windows of all the models, FL 2 , Disco4 and the RR's for about 5 minutes still nobody, so I walked out , they were there at the desks but nobody cared to even say hallo or to even wave at me, so off to the second hand showroom, same story , a couple of loud salesmen chatting to each other but not even a hello from them, after standing around for a while, a young black salesmen come to me after finishing a call in his office and greets friendly and offers to show me around. After I told him that I have a trade in, he calls the noisy 3 guys to come and have a look at my car. I stand at the car to unlock and answer any questions they may have but it seems that I was invisable Shocked , they walk around me to see for damage, one fat ass climbs on the back bumper to see if the roof is straight etc. not one of them even bothered to say hello or ask me about the cars history. Evil or Very Mad I thanked the salesman who noticed me for his help and left......................... for good !!!
So very sad that people has no drive for perfection anymore.

This is a long standing problem of all makes in SA

I bought my 1st new car in 1995 when I strated working ... VW Golf 3 GTS Green - I new what I wanted was in 4 dealers in PTA no help at all from any sales person - My dad new the VW dealer in Nelspruit and I bought it from them.

I bought a new VW Caravlle last year from Bloenfontein Lindsy Saker - not any help from any VW PTA dealer R550,000 rand deal not interested ....

I also walk around the LR dealers from time 2 time and find the same thing - you have to go and ask for help.......

But I think you should send a mail to Mr Lazasus - the owner - he does not tolerate bad service and if it was my business I would want the feedback - give him the date time etc ... IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET UNHELPFULL SALESSTAFF OUT OF THE INDUSTRY.

Recently shopped around for a small car and got similar treatment (or lack thereof) from Suzuki, Honda, Peugeot and Renault (not the first time). Walked into the 2nd hand section of Hyundai Bryanston and drove off with brand new i130. Very efficient and helpful staff took less than 15 minutes to conclude deal and I went back once to fetch the number plates (which they were prepared to deliver). Had 3 telephone calls since checking if everything was OK and to rate their service.

Land Rover Sandton (on a Saturday morning) could not be bothered to have look at my previous Discovery3 and purely on consulting the little black book gave me a feeble trade-in price on a new D4 which they were very quick to remind me had a 3 month waiting list.

Wayne at Midrand isn't too bad , bought both my D3's through him . Problem is that nobody can get stock , so it seems the salesman don't care too much , because you're probably going to buy something (lesser) else

Waited 4 weeks for my D4 - choice of slow combustion (TDV6) or V8 - went for the latter and not regretting it. even missed the price increase - R33K.

Good news is that a new shipment has arrived, all 2011 spec/plate or whatever. local dealer got me one , will probably get it on Thursday. They had to swap twice to get me the right colour and trim and got me a good price for the old D3 Very Happy I'm really sad to trade the D3, she has given me no hassles, lots of good memories and has been very reliable. Anybody looking for salemen that will go the extra mile, give me a pm and I'll give you their phone numbers Wink

Were you not put off by the 19" wheels, or is there already a solution available?

When the D3 came with the 18inch wheels we had the same complaints and moans, I never had a problem, just takes a while for the Tyre manufacturers to wakeup and then all well. When my d3's tyres had to be replaced the grabbers was available and I got good mileage and service from them, sure there will be a 19 inch soon. Also I drive 90% on road which I think is what most of us do anyways, so do we really have to go extreme Confused

I can honestly say that it is not even a LandRover thing.
This morning I was driving East on New Rd, so decided to stop in at the ToyMotor dealer to see if I could have a look at the LC200 before I make a decision re D4 or FFRR.
I honestly am not happy with LR's after-sales, so am a prime candidate for conversion to the dark side - a salesman's dream, or so I think.
I park round the corner so they can't see the D3, and enter the showroom, trying desperately to make eye-contact with the 6 or 7 salespeople focused on their computer screens. To no avail. So I start hunting for a LC.
Well, after mooching around the showroom for 5 minutes trying to find an LC (you'd think it should be obvious if there was in fact one present) a lady comes up behind me and asks if I am OK.
I respond that I would like to drive the LC200
She asks Diesel or Petrol
I say I don't mind, do you have one
She says NO we don't have any here
I ask then why the Censored does it matter whether I want to drive a diesel or petrol seeing as you don't have either?
She takes me to sales managers office, where sales manager takes my number and promises to call me next week for a test drive "if" she manages to get her hands on the demo vehicle which is apparently pooled between all the Gauteng dealers.
I ask a couple of questions about suspension, fuel tank etc. that none of them are able to answer besides referring to the same brochure that I am reading as if I am blind or illiterate.
I walk out in disgust
