Is step up to D4 worth it |
|
Just wondering if its worth trading the D3 2007 for a 2010 or 2011 D4 ???
Part of me says no.......
but shinny paint and bells & whistles....

I've just done the same thing but mine's a 12my. I got a good price for my 2007 HSE and I found a 2012 HSE with the spec and colour that I wanted for a good price. I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing to start with but as soon as I was behind my new steering wheel the Discovery 3 felt so dated by comparison. My old HSE had plenty of bells and whistles but they don't compare to the new ones.
If you can do it - go for and you won't regret it. 2015 Discovery 4 HSE Corris with Blackpack

I'd say yes, I did it and even though the D3 HSE is a brilliant car, the D4 HSE is better - engine, comfort, looks I did not swap straight away as I didn't think there was a big change but I was wrong. Had to be careful at first with the twin turbo's though as it would have been very easy to exceed the speed limit - soon got used to the different response though.

They're supposed to be, but strangely my D4 actually stands a little taller the the D3.
I've put it down to the stiffer suspension, mainly because I can't think what else it could be?
...and yes, the engine alone makes the swap worth it for me

There was a similar debate on this tread ....http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic89103.html
Majority say go for the D4. I tried same year D3 alongside D4. Drove the D4 for a week and was not willing to pay the extra £10,000 for the D4 so bought the D3.
Each to their own ! Chris

Depends what you want from it. For me, the performance and handling in the D4 were streets ahead of the D3, plus I thought the interior vastly improved. If you just off road it, or just pootle along, you probably won't notice much difference, If you have to deal with a fast dual carriageway excessively sprinkled with roundabouts to get to the office, you'll notice a vast difference! I would say though I found the MY10 D4 to be quite a bit thirstier than the MY08 that preceded it on the drive; I think the MY12 is better, almost back up (down?!) to the D3 consumption

Have a HSE and looking at HSE
I was reluctant to change from the D3HSE as well - but you wont regret it - the D4 is much better , once you get over the added bling. there engine, gearbox and infotanment system etc is a huge improvement IMO Duncan

Me too. I've spent the past 3 years telling folk that I could not justify the huge cost to change up from a D3 to a new D4 with equivalent spec.
However, after considering all the options, I have well and truly eaten humble pie, and a new HSE Luxury is on its way.
I think the 2013 model could be the best yet...
