What is this tube?
Help wanted with identifying this loose end...
When under the bonnet tonight I found a loose tube of which I am certain it was never ther before!
It was between the righthand wing and the battery compartment, rather the fuse box. It runs down from there to somewhere under the engine bay on the passenger side, of my LDH car. On the loose end it has a plastic connector at a 90 degree angle. Please see the photo's.
At first I thought it could be the tube for the water of the washer jets, but these are still in place and functioning. Also they come in from the other side. So, I'm left without a clue. I guess that it either came undone at the dealer or during use.
Does anybody know what it is, and more important: where it should be attached to? All help appreciated!
Thanks and regards, Paul

Is it the vent pipe from the battery to take away fumes?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Hi guys, thanks for the speedy answers
Does this tube go into the battery itself? Probably only the OEM LR battery has this feature? My battery was replaced under warranty by the 2nd hand car dealer we bought ours from. It wasn't actually covered the the warrenty which was just on the motor and "moving parts" so I couldn't be to picky on the brand of battery he put in, but it is no LR or Varta make. I'll have a look which brand it is in the morning.
Is it a problem if this tube remains undone?
Regards, Paul

Most if not all battery's will have a small hole in the side of the battery near the top for a vent tube to be fitted.
It's only a problem if the battery starts gassing , this is why the pipe is fitted to safely vent off the battery through the tube and directs it out of harms way
Garage more than likely forgot to push it into the battery when fitting.
Hole may be in a quite different spot from the battery used by LR. It is ordinary plastic tubing so you could just extend it if you have to. Don't not refit it. As well as the gasses from the battery there are acidic fumes come out the hole - and Land Rovers rot fast enough as it is!A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. Solved
Thanks to all your replies I managed to solve this problem.
Turns out I have a Banner Batteries Power Bull 100 Ah. Looks like a decent one, but will have to prove itself yet. There was a hole that took the connector nicely, although it was at the most akward position at the back of the battery where it left me almost no room to push it in. But I managed in the end, just as I was about to give up and first take the battery out.
So again thanks for all replies and advice. This forum truely rocks
