Seeing as you lot are normally better than Google thought I'd ask here first....
I have a requirement to take a 12v power feed from my D3 with an isolated ground. The power feed isn't a problem, I already have TFC loom running from front to back that I can get power from but I how do I go about setting up the isolated ground? The End

Surely you won't get that whilst the car is moving....? doesn't it need to have a completely seperate ground point i.e. a stake in the ground instead of you car? Bodsys Brake Bible

The only way I could see you doing it is using a isolation transformer, so you can take the ground from anywhere but it has to go through the transformer.
EDIT: That's if you mean isolated in that it can't feedback anything, they are used in Hybrid cars which use high voltages for the drive system. You don't want a leakage through ground if it is a much higher voltage than the rest of the car works on.

Sure TFC will come up with a supplier, but for info I have used these when fitting LCD screens in boats. Not only isolates but keeps the voltage constant as well. Limited to about 4-5 amps though so watch the current. No use for your additional 1000w sub!
As CW says though, if it's an audio application you may well just get away with braid breakers in the audio leads and power the unit as normal.Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

just thought, if you don't need 'clean' power, a galvanic isolator would do the job! lot cheaper too
