It LIVES!!!!! It has arrived |
|
I have just had a phone call from the dealer that my car has arrived and is being prepared with Sureguard.
I ordered a Discovery 4 Luxury and I ordered black front and side grills but the dealer has just informed me that the black front grill will not fit Discovery 4 Luxury model
I will be getting a refund on those.
Dealer said I can pick the car up this Sunday at 9am, 1 hour before show room opens.
Anything I should check over before accepting the car?

See Gareth's thread http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic89720-75.html , black bits missing there as well but the dealer is going to fit the missing bits.

The dealer said that he cant fit the black grill because the fittings are different and these black fittings will only fit on the special addition or BLACK addition.
Anyone tried to fit a black grill on a D4 Luxury?

Can't see why the grill wouldn't fit. If it's a different design on the Luxury model they (LR) would have had to alter production line tools surely.

Pentland in Edinburgh had a black Luxury when I was in there a couple of weeks ago......looks so much better without the chrome grille surround 8) ....but I agree,I can't see a practical reason for a different design or fittings "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Very strange. I can't see why they are not interchangeable, my dealer has not told me they can't fit the correct bits, so let's wait and see.
Talking of black bits, I am thinking of painting the brake disc hubs black. They look OK now whilst they are new, but I think they will look pretty ugly when they degenerate into the usual rusty lumps of iron. They are very visible through the 5 spoke black alloys. So are the calipers come to think of it.

I had another call from the dealer saying that the 7 day insurance will not cover theft of the car as there is no tracker fitted to the car.
I had to scramble around to get my insurance sorted out this afternoon.
Does this mean they will be advising to fit trackers in all their cars over 50K in value?

I have found out that the black grill will fit the disco 4 but LR does not like you making this change. LR actually would not send the grill out as they knew it was going on a a brand new disco Lux . Dealer has told me they will get hold of the grill and fit it on my car
I would of thought LR would say profit is a profit?
