Here’s hoping you are going to have a great week over here...

Cornwall is a beautiful place and a great place to visit...spent every summer there when growing up...Cornwall is a county of two halves..the North coast faces the Atlantic and thus you get large open sweeping sandy beaches with Atlantic waves thus it’s good for surfing and playing on the open beaches..they do also get busy at this time of year... Places to visit Newquay, Padstow, Rock etc

I used to spend time on the South coast, places to visit include Mevagissey, ( not with caravan in tow) St Mawes (take the foot ferry across from Falmouth or vice versa) Michaels Mount etc...
The south coast is more secluded coves and picturesque harbours,

Some great coastwalks and exploring the rock pools is brilliant for the kids..

I have linked two campsites on the South coast , the first is near Veryan and is close to small tiny villages of Portloe, and Portscatho which are great for just chilling out and relaxing...

https://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.u...gle_places

The second site is near to St Mawes which again is a relatively quiet and picturesque village.

Whilst you are over here give a shout out if you need any help.. lots of us on here who will help where we can...

Which port are you coming into?

Just got back from a week at Rock, North Cornwall. Been there for years, and regular at Polzeath.
Polzeath is a great surf beach, and good for families. Parking is on the beach if you're early enough, or use the car park on the cliffs.
Local campsite nearby is Dinham Farm, St Minver. All well kept and owners known to me so can recommend without question.

The A303 around Stonhenge will be very busy.

Your son might like to visit Longleat; but it takes most of a day to see it all:-

https://www.longleat.co.uk/

There are numerous caravan sites in the area, but I have no knowledge of them.

Dover to Cornwall is about 250-300 miles... the direct route will take you around the South M25 London Orbital motorway which is always incredibly busy on weekdays between 6.30 am and 10am which will considerably extend your journey time...best to travel late morning or on the weekends.

On a good day Dover to Cornwall will take you 7-8 hours.
When you say you’re going to stop do you mean overnight or for a quick stop for a meal (with the caravan attached)..

Hopefully a couple on here will recommend an overnight stop near Salisbury...

Yes, mate.
For example, stop for the night in one campsite, following day (or two days) visit around (Cathedral etc), sleep in there again and the day after move to Cornwall

Cornwall is reasonably busy during August as it is in the middle of the 6 week school holidays..
the beauty is you will always find somewhere quiet...there are hundreds of beaches and coves to explore..

Anyone on here recommend a couple of sites mid route?

Any issues when you are over here let us know and we’ll all try to help!

The alternative is you find somewhere in the Kent/Sussex/ Surrey area and visit London for a couple of days?
