OK at the risk of being accused of spouting BS/trying to protect our commercial interest I have had a look at this Fox Wing and their other offerings.
Please note my comments could be construed as being biased as we sell the genuine Foxwings and carry the main spare parts.
That is my declaration of interest out of the way.
That is definitely NOT an Oztent Foxwing but a much cheaper version trading on the Foxwing name.
The law of passing off is designed to prevent misrepresentation in the course of trade to the public.
Using the expression Fox Wing instead of Foxwing when aimed at that type of product could be construed as 'passing off' or misrepresentation as the public could think they are purchasing an Oztent Foxwing rather then a Chinese copy of an Oztent Foxwing which has a patent pending.
The patent might explain some of the differences between the genuine Foxwing and the chinese copy passing off as a 'fox wing.'
What are the differences?
The genuine Foxwing has a patent pending and spares and back up is available in the UK.
Lots of difference to account for much cheaper price. Some but not all the differences include lack of zips for extension awning, main hinge seems to be a bolt going through a bit of 2mm Ali angle! Quality of stitching, note how the fabric angle drapes as it goes into the poles. Note the use of self tappers and big washers to attach fabric to poles in the non genuine 'fox wing'
If the fixing brackets for the non genuine 'fox wing' are the same as another one of their awning brackets they are similar to steel joist straps, i.e bent galv mild steel strip with holes every 2". Genuine ones comes with moulded glass filled nylon brackets and a range of engineered brackets for different bars/racks
Guy ropes plaited polypropylene (?) not kernmantel construction of genuine Oztent guy ropes. Am guessing not the Oztent P clip but plastic or metal slider.
No weight given, genuine Foxwing is 18kg.
Am guessing that the main rib poles are not of the same reinforced design of the genuine Foxwing.
Uses standard hex bolts rather then the square headed ones supplied with genuine Foxwing.
We will be extending our range of awnings and accessories in 2013. I will let you decide if we are adding this to our range or not.
Brendan

Whether it is a fake or not it boils down to whether you need to spend a daft amount of money on an awning. If you want shade there are many ways of getting it.
Lack of zips is no big issue in my book. When these first came onto the market I viewed them at Eastnor. Had a good poke around it and asked a few questions.
Like when you zip the sides on why is there still a gap between the side panels? If I want to put sides on I want to be fully enclosed from the weather be that a dust storm in the desert or rain in Wales. With a 4" gap it made the sides totally redundant. When this was pointed out to the retailer by my wife he gave some comment about doing a huge amount of research before he designed/built this. Strange as most people on the agreed with my point on the gaps. Then the bloke got rude and then offered my wife some advice about if she wanted that level of comfort perhaps she shouldn't be overlanding or she should book into a hotel.
Perhaps I should of declared my interest. I do not like these awnings, think they are a waste of money and if I was given one I would promptly give it to the next mug I could find that would take it from me.HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Agree, that's what I did in he end. However, I confess to buying a couple of oztent upright poles as they are nicely made! (Plus part of a wingspar from a hang glider, which possibly makes it the most expensive bit of 3m ali tube ever used for such a purpose. Needless to say, the hang glider was never going to fly and I'd been keeping the bits for something useful!)
