January/February orders - anyone heard anything? |
|
As I've sold my old car and am now driving around in a rental, my thoughts are turning to the impending (hopefully) arrival of my D4 XS. It was a "from scratch" (ie no reserved build slot) via an online broker, placed in the last day or two of January.
My online chap says we'll have a clearer idea "in April" when it's being built (seems a long way ahead to me) but he said it was showing as delivery to dealer on 25/5, which would be 16 weeks, and to be fair that's what they said up front. However I wondered if anyone else who'd ordered from a local dealer in similar circumstances had any updates on their car and when it's expected?
Yours hopefully...

Not thinking that your 'broker' is sitting on beach in Bermuda with his ipad sipping a pina colada .....
..... with your deposit money ......... are you
...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I placed my order mid to late Jan and it arrived last Wednesday. I really struggled to get a build date from the dealer as it was almost as if they didn't know until the week of the build. No warning on delivery other than a call on the Wednesday to say my car had been delivered. I was told circa 12 to 16 weeks
Looks like long waits thanks to all those FFRR and Evoque orders they are trying to fulfil

No, he's a pretty straight bloke - offered to lend me one of their pool cars if I found myself without a car, and the deposit's nowhere near enough to get him to Rhyl let along Bermuda.
To be fair he's been saying 16 weeks from the very start, it's just with my last car (Volvo) that i got locally I could pop in and nag them when I was passing - and they had a build date almost from the start.

That's quite comforting, really - you were told pretty much the same as me, and it looks like yours was 12 weeks or so. So you never know, mine might turn up in a couple of weeks!

Assume your dealer had a slot already booked though?

How d'you mean? I've always assumed when they get an order they can either use a slot they've got but not sold, or they take the next ine available. Is there a way they can effectively jump the queue?

Dealers have different allocations for diff vehicles. When evoque first came out city dealers were quotinh a year as they'd used their allocation whereas a country dealer could get one in 8 weeks as he hadn't used all his evoque allocation
Not sure if that helps but thats what my lease man told me
Btw he took 3 days to confirm info on mine D4 Fuji White HSE with Black Pack, TV, RSE, Tow Pack, Side Steps & Heated Steering Wheel

So I think that suggests your chap had a slot available - which seem to be pretty thin on the ground!
