JKP - Winter Protection Detail

I’m well aware that a lot of members on D3 are not into having a clean car and there are some strong views held on whether this should be raised on here, which puts me as a site sponsor in a strange position. Anyway at the risk of offending some people I’d like to post up a winter protection detail offer from JKP Detail.

The ‘detail’ or ‘valet’ will include exterior and interior.

Exterior will include wash and clean of all bonded contaminants, such as tar, tree sap and general grime that washing alone will not remove. Claying the painted surfaces inc. the windows will leave a smooth as glass feel.

Not normally included in a protection detail, I will apply paint cleaners via machine polisher to enhance the gloss and this will also remove some of the lighter paint marks such as swirls or bramble rash. Please note that this is not a correction so some marks will remain but there will be a noticeable improvement.

Once cleaned and polished the painted surfaces will be treated to two layers of acrylic sealant then topped with a wax. This will give maximum protection from the winter roads to the painted surfaces. I would fully expect that this protection will still be evident on the car up to three months after application. I can use a variety of waxes to suit what you need, from maximum looks to one that will help reduce bramble rashing if you’re heading offroad.

As part of the exterior the wheels will also be cleaned and sealed against the winter salts and brake dust.
For the interior, this will be a ‘deep clean’ of all surfaces with the application of matt dressings where requested (not everyone likes dressings on the dash/etc... ) I do not do shiny dressings as these are dangerous and ghastly. They can cause glare and the usual silicone base can be slippy. All seats cleaned and treated inc. feeding leather where fitted. Door seals will also be cleaned and treated.

For the above detail work it would be approx £180. The only deviation to this would be the state of the interior. Mainly excessive dog hairs as this is very time consuming to remove.

For only exterior work it would be £145.

To help maintain the protection over the winter I will leave a new wash mitt and a bottle of pH neutral shampoo along with some guidance on how to look after the finish.

For those who are smokers, have pets or are looking to sell the car on, as an add-on to the interior clean I can use the Aromatek fogging machine. This assists in the removal of mal-odours as it gets into all areas of the car inc. dash, seats, head-lining and air ducts. It is a bacterial killing process that removes the origin or the smell, not simply covering it up as some foggers do. If added to the detail i will do this for £20 (50% off)

To complete a full detail on a D3 will take roughly 8 hours.

If you want to know more, drop me a pm. My usual area of work is in Central Scotland, but can travel further for a diesel donation.

Apologies to those who see this as an blasphemous topic. Razz Please don’t take the thread off-topic. Thumbs Up

jkp, that looks like a great deal for all the work involved. Thumbs Up
I was all ready to sign up until I saw the central Scotland bit. Unfortunately, that's about 200 diesel vouchers from me which makes it difficult to justify the trip. Sad

It is a good deal Chris. Might be cheesy, but was looking to offer something back to the forum. If everyone who offers a personal service does it at a fair price on the forum then D3 is a good place to be.

As an idea of how far I travel, I've done cars as far as Aberdeen and Dumfries. I'm also heading to Orkney for a week in the spring with work lined up. Not had a sortie into England yet Whistle

Passing my door on the way to a ferry by any chance?...... Whistle

Or will you be doing the longer drive and shorter hop?

detail

Hi John,
If you are not busy, why not travell down south and give some of us a detail.
I would be the first to put my name on a list if you were prepaired to visit sheffield.
Looking at your ad, web-site, I thinks you could easily achieve a few weeks work down this end.
Just a thought mate!!
First on the list if you decide its viable.

Best of Luck. Thumbs Up

Regards.

These are ideally removed by machine polishing. They can be removed by hand but on a D3 it's a lot of car and a lot of effort. The other solution is to simply fill the light swirls and wax over the top. Something like poorboys blackhole for dark cars and white diamond for lighter cars. Simply apply to a clean surface, work it in until it starts to shine, leave to haze and buff off. Once finished add a coat of wax to seal the filler and protect the finish. Job done. This will last as long as the wax seals it.
