On JLR management scheme

Just released onto the scheme so will start to see a few appearing in the local area to factories I assume.

Not sure whether to order one yet as still got the V8 4.4d RRS on the scheme and also the F-Pace (with the 380ps V6 option available Mr. Green ).

At the very least would hope to have one for a weekend to try out as always thought I'd go back into a Disco' when they came onto the scheme, may yet decide to do just that Thumbs Up

Why would they discount something they don't need to?

The cars on the scheme are what the dealers want spec wise so that would indicate more want HSE, Lux, etc. than don't. More profit on higher spec too as majority of cost is on the 'basics' common to all; body, engine, drive-train, etc. The shiny whistles and bells is where the profit is

No, they don't have to but do it as a 'perk' if people want or can afford it but certainly not 'fresh out the box'...... Rolling Eyes

Nice to have the option astonbuilder even if you don't choose to take it.

Would like to know how you're finding the F-Pace. Would you be willing to offer some feedback on the Off Topic Forum?

It is indeed a nice position to be in.

I haven't got an F-PACE yet, but wondering if I should order one next. Pick up 4.4d RRS next Thursday and have to order 'next one' the same day as I'm a high mileage user. Currently leaning towards the petrol F-PACE but it's not much faster than the 3.0d and likely to deliver low 20mpg's rather than higher 30mpg's.

Had 2.0d F-PACE for a short while and there are pics/review on here somewhere.

Always happy to share a view/ride/opinion on any car I have if people nearby Thumbs Up

I'd be interested to hear your views on the RRS 4.4d also, as I'm not certain what I'm doing next after this RRS sdv6. I did put a deposit down for the D5 but now canning that idea. So, my replacement likely to be either the 4.4d, or very low mileage FFRR with the 4.4 also, or petrol F Pace, which Seems to be circa 5.5 seconds 0-60 against 6.8 on the the SDV6, plus much lower cost price.

Indeed; a car they needed to make a quick penetration into the 'German three' competition base from a standing start not having a car in that segment size since the [not great] X-TYPE. It's called marketing, it adapts to needs, trends, quick growth etc. It was required for that model, it isn't for D5.

Whoever is right or wrong here fact is the D5 isn't on a discount scheme, simple as that really

Found your 2.0D F-Pace review - thank you Thumbs Up

I do love reports and pictures of great cars I can only dream about. Keep them coming please.

I do think the F-Pace is stunning to look at and the reports are that it drives well too. Impressed with the pre-production models on the launch events earlier this year. Petrol or diesel V6 would both be a hoot in different ways. The petrol sounds ridiculous Very Happy

Couldn't afford £60k plus currently but maybe one day when they've sorted out some of the initial glitches. Perhaps with an inline 6 cylinder Ingenium petrol if it ever gets into production 8)

For now I love my D4 which stretched my budget more than planned but was affordable-ish. And got me my first Land Rover Bow down

I have the 4.4d 'because I can' but having driven the 3.0d extensively I could happily live with that too. On paper, figures show the 4.4 to shave 0.3 seconds off 0-60 and it has 33HP more and 40Nm torque more (the 3.0d having a healthy 700Nm already). On road the 4.4 has more mid-range ooomph but other than that the 3.0d has always felt pretty similar.

Fuel economy-wise I get a consistent 29-30 mpg overall from the four 4.4's I've had, similar usage in the 3.0d gets me around 35mpg. On a gentle run I have seen 36mpg out the 4.4 (colleague just returned from 800 mile trip to Scotland and back on holiday in my car and was showing 36 point something overall).

You can get the 2.0d Ingenium engine in the RRS now and the on-paper figures don't look too bad but I'd imagine it's lacking a little at times but not too bad overall (same as my opinion of the engine in the F-PACE).

The official figures on the F-PACE are closer than you suggest; 5.1 seconds on the petrol V6 against 5.8 seconds on the 3.0d variant and the torque is 450Nm Vs 700Nm, that would be felt in everyday use in my opinion. Fuel economy wise based on driving the 3.0d in XF/RRS variants I would expect an F-PACE under my usage to return 35'ish mpg and the petrol about 24'ish MPG (I used to get 21mpg overall out of Jag 5.0 XKR's) so quite a difference to the weekly visit to the fuel stations....
