John Lewis broadband any good

HI all as Talktalk don't cover where I'm moving to Big Cry see my rant https://disco3.co.uk/forum/post2036195.html#2036195 anyone have experience of John Lewis broadband apparently they are resellers for Plusnet but Cheaper but there standard speed seems low 2 - 6 Mb all the available suppliers are the same speed well it is out in the sticks South Killingholme immingham. I only use it for internet browsing odd bit of shopping (no gaming etc) and I have freeview play so can't see the point of fibre.
Cheers
Peter

My neighbours have had a poor service from John Lewis who it appears are not well thought of, see these reviews:-

Trust Pilot 1/5 stars

Here's an independent website which allows you to compare the major players:-

Same here not heard good things about the JL customer service

If the speed checkers are showing you as low as 2-6mb do you have 4G available in the area as a mobile wifi dongle might suite you better than a fixed line?

Peter,
Try this website:

https://availability.samknows.com/broadband/

Use the Exchange Search to find out which services are available and then use the Broadband Checker to see who's offering what. Many smaller exchanges only have Openreach kit in them, which means other ISPs have to buy bandwidth from them. I've also seen Openreach upgrade the exchange (from ADSL Max to ADSL 2+) which the other ISPs haven't made available to their customers. Best of luck,

Sam Knows is OK, but only lists a limited sub-set of larger ISPs.

Andrews & Arnold, who come top in many reviews, are not list for my home address, only:-

BT
TalkTalk &
Sky

and I wouldn't want any of them as my ISP !

I suggested SamKnows primarily for the Exchange information. As I said, many rural exchanges will only contain Openreach equipment so other ISPs have to buy from Openreach, and they charge by the Gigabyte. Sometimes BT or PlusNet are your best option, despite previous issues. Regards,

I'd rather not go to BT Censored had a really bad time with them. The reason I asked about JL is although the use Plusnet there a bit cheaper cause they don't go put premium and your location like plusnet.
As to the speed I'm coming to the conclusion that even with my limited usage I'm leaning towards fibre 2-6 Mb is dial-up in comparision.
My fault I wanted to live where the most exciting thing that happened was the grass grew Rolling with laughter .

if you only do web browsing and tv catchup; why not go for one of the 100G per month mobile contracts from Three or Vodafone for ~£20 per month?

The coverage doesn't look too bad?

BT Censored own Plusnet.
I wouldn't touch either of them. I have found them both to have very poor customer service.

But if you have no choice then Plusnet have the better customer service if you need something fixing which is normally the only time you need to contact them.

With such slow projections on line speed I would be looking at 4G if available in that area

I totally agree with you RSW.
In my experience, BT was simply Censored horrid to deal with & Plusnet not quite as difficult.
Sure, if the options are limited you just have to use the best available.
