I'm feeling very nostalgic and just a tad jealous, remembering my 6 months working in Jordan in 2003.
Never got to Petra as SWMBO believed it'd be as bad as Diana going to the Taj by herself
Really only got outside of Amman to go to Madaba/Mt Nebo/Dead Sea.
Still intend to get out there with the family.
I'd be very interested to hear who you used for the trip/excursions.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

did not use tour group. rented car picked up at airport. picked a free map at airport help desk.first five nights booked. rest booked as we felt like it(14 days total). We have good level membership for several hotel chains so bookings are favourable.
bought a Jordan pass which gives access to most attractions.
some of the suites we stayed in. continental Amman Pres. suite(in now)

my wife loves Conde nast magazine so generally book what they publish.

Liking the look of those rooms.
I used to stay mostly at the Sheraton and spend my evenings swimming, and lounging, in the rooftop pool. Until the UN base in Baghdad was bombed and they moved en-mass to Amman and booked ALL the best western (not Best Western) hotels.
For eats it'd be Indochine at the Hyatt and La Cucina, where we twice dined next to the King.
LOVED the food and (Lebanese) wine in Jordan.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

The Dove used to be parked in a hangar at Marka airport.

I hear you. Spent a little more than a year there a couple of years before you.
