Jump starting
This is a random one, but where does it stand with jumping another car using jump leads from a D3..? Knowing how sensitive these beats can be, is there any danger from doing it or is it likely to cause problems?2005 Disco3 HSE Auto 😁
I don't see any issues ... used my D4 to jump start several cars since covid..

Was jumping my wife’s Merc from my D3 a few times during lockdown (there’s gotta be a joke in there somewhere) and no problems, apart from me almost ripping off her mud-flaps with my steps when I got a “little” too close for my leads to reach one morning (ssshhhhhh)2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

Had a battery problem on my other car ( Fiat 500) yesterday and rescued by FIL with jump leads . Got me thinking that I really ought to buy a set . Can anyone recommend a set big enough to jump start the Discovery ( is that even recommended?) . Need a heavy duty set, and I’m thinking could double up as emergency earth strap if necessary, although anything long (a pre-requisite of a decent jump lead) would be a risk left under the bonnet. So many questions on what started out as a simple post !
CheersGary

With regards to jump leads, get as thick as possible cables, usually if they are sold as for use with 24v vehicles, they will be better than those piddly little ones that will melt in the sun.

Or get one of the battery blocks with leads used for jump starting. Has worked well for me and can be used for a lot of other things.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. Thanks.
Yes , heavy duty definitely required, however I guess you have to think carefully about what car you use to jump the Discovery.
I did think about an electronic booster for jump starting, but I use it so rarely I think £30 on heavy duty jump leads stacks up, where as £100 on the booster probably does not ( for me , anyway).

As an aside to the topic.

And watch cars with stop/start if jumping to or from one. On Skippy I would have to use a separate spur for connecting the -ve cable, not the battery terminal, were it ever to need jumping, or I wanted to jump from it.
