It's fantastic up there, we used to spend a lot of time at The Portpatrick Hotel as I knew the manager and often walked along there. I've bookmarked the link Cheers Ian

I think he's sold the tent now?
Yeah, he's moved on to a caravan with bigger panel gaps than his Defender
(I think he'll switch back when the kids are older though)

Getting excited now, SWMBO already sorting some packing, I've dug out the bars and roof bag
Planning to leave 7am Saturday, 7hr drive according to Google with no stops at just under 400 miles, so should get there 3-4pm (Just in time for the Eng Wales game at 16:45, although not mentioned that to SWMBO yet )
It may have internet, so will posts a few pics from next week, no idea what the roads/snow is like at the moment up there

We stayed in the smaller cottage in 2011. I won't post our pictures, as I don't want to spoil it for you. It's a steep drive down to the cottage. I got a puncture just as we turned off into field, so had to change the tyre in the field just before we started the decent to the cottage. The internet was a satellite link when we stayed there, so was very slow. Great walks around there.
Enjoy

Perfect, thanks John
SWMBO says she wants to get out and walk down Unless of course it's raining
Out of interest did you use Hill descent, low ratio at all? Or all just normal set-up?Iggy/Ieuan

As the D3 was new to me at that point, I used hill decent on the way down, just to try it out. You don't really need it to be honest. But there is a nice hairpin bend, with a nice little drop into the ocean, so don't overshoot the corner.
Going up I put it into off road mode, as the concrete single tracks are narrow, so if you drop off these your under body can touch, as it did with me.
I would suggest you take a look before starting down, just as you would any off road track. Things might have changed since I was there last.
Enjoy
