Well, no, but it IS the same vehicle feature that the LR dealer told me to carry the transmission oil sample in on my way to the transmission people... in a plastic cup... spilling prohibited by duct tape.

I don't have one of these in my D4 Sad

I keep saying the D4 is not as practical as the D3 .....
.... and this goes some way to prove it!!

But on the plus side, now a damn good reason for not buying swmbo flowers Wink

On a serious note
I have followed with interest your posts with regard to comparisons between the D3 and D4.....to my mind the whole "go beyond" ethos of the D3 has been lost.
Surely the whole point of any Land Rover is its useability and practicality....correct me if I am wrong, but you seem to think both those attributes have been lost,or at least diluted, in the new incarnation ?
ps If I'm wrong,I won't be sending flowers,as you won't have any way of transporting them Wink
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Locking rear E-diff
RLD spare wheel protector & sump guard
Extended roof rails
Series 111 mudflaps
Black side tubes,grill and vents
Timed climate remote
Hids4u interior lights

D4 Firenze my2012 HSE
D3 Java 2005 SE manual (sold, sadly, thanks for the memories)
1966 '88 Series 2a....still starts in the morning better than I do...

Nice one, will make those VW owners envious who can only carry one flower in their beetle.

You would like to think & perhaps hope that a product gets "better" as it goes the product cycle of early adopter, mture product etc....problems are sorted....isssues are dealt with...customers / users are listened to...
This doesnt seem the case with LandRover.....marketing who decide what we have to have make the decisions.........what was good is now not as good.

I am bitterly dissapointed what was a do anything vehicle that was durable & at home on country roads bad conditions has now been tarted up with bling (painted wheels arches, bumpers) had significant things taken out (rear AC entirely) other parts that were standard are now at cost - optional.

I realise that LandRover have to keep the product fresh to make a business - but this shouldnt be at the cost of losing or disappointing customers (some of those long standing & loyal...through bad times when product was crap). but not at the expense of dumbing down whilst blinging up what was a superb product & distancing potential customers.

I did & was considering changing to a D4 (cant say upgrading as it clearly isnt an upgrade) & thought again that a change was a retrograde step where I ended up with a dented bank balance (far too costly), an inferior vehicle (in my opinion) with only the dealer getting the profit & the recipient "gaining"my old car.

Seriously considering the New VWToureg (the one with Low Ration & all the options)...... I havent actually seen one in the flesh yet.......
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I've posted on a similar vein in another thread with regards to swapping mine for a D4

Whilst I can see the allure of the new front end and engine displacement being upped to 3.0 there is not much else that makes me want a D4, I've said this before a dozen times ! Having crossed over from the Defender 2 forum upgrading to a D3 still has me grinning like a Cheshire cat, 18 months of ownership and I'm still not looking for a change !

The new Tourag however !!!!!!
Whistle

Only time will tell,
I reckon I could hang on in till the new defender actually arrives ! the D4, too much at the minute for me.
Only dead fish go with the Flow !

There's a strong possibility that the new Defender prototype being shown in Germany next week will be based on the D3/4 platform so hopefully that will hand back some rough and ready requirements those that miss it on the disco Smile

Don't get too excited about the Toureg, new or old. The spare wheel setup is a disaster, unless you get an old one with a rear mounted spare carrier bracket - which I was told, the new ones can't have.

I came close to buying a Toureg but changed my mind when the sales rep couldn’t tell me what I should do with the flat tyre once I'd replaced it with the spare that is stored deflated (under the back floorboard to save space) and needs to be inflated Shocked

The flat tyre doesn't fit into the hole left by the spare and you have to make a plan with it - which is a problem if it's wet and muddy, and the boot is full of your camping gear... Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

A truly brilliant piece of German engineering… Thumbs Up

Cheers

Peter
