That's brilliant, and so true. Land Rover have dropped the loyal following they have had for more than 50 years, in favor of new fashionable markets, that will inevitably change.

Yes its true in some respect but, times change, technology moves on and the Laws to what we can and can't build change so, LR aren't in the wrong really? There following the rules they have too and following the money?

The commercial ranges will come back over time, the defender should be mid/late next year, the commercial D5 should also be mid/late 17 so there not a millions of miles away! And tbh if someone wants a commercial that much they'll remove the rear seats and put a floor in Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up

He makes some very valid points.

Even the Land Rover name is somewhat ironic now. Yes all the models will go off road, but on massive rims and elastic band tyres, they might not get you back on road again. Crying or Very sad

Three bl**dy cheers for that! Excellent video - I'm glad somebody's spent the time to make a video that somes it up so well.

When I decided to buy my first Land Rover, I looked at the FL2 and a V60. My wife refused to even get out of the car at the Volvo dealer - her dad ran Defenders and Series Land Rovers and there's no way she was going to approve of anything from anyone else.

The working vehicles might not pay the bills but, without those associations, it becomes just another city SUV for people that buy male grooming products Laughing Seeing my first Evoque convertible today hasn't helped my mood Rolling Eyes

Land Rover - wake up!!

Spot on!

I've had Land Rovers for over 30 years & the D4 I have now is by far the most comfortable & car like & it is also both practical & adaptable. It's better as an everyday car than the Defender I also have but then the Defender wins hands down when it comes to 3 muddy spaniels or the results of a good mornings stalk slung in the back at the weekend.

The D5 is just another "jelly mold" SUV aimed at Mr & Mrs Smith, or Jones, or White, or Green or anyone else living in a ticky tacky box with a double garage & driveway in deepest darkest "Newbuild-on-Thames".

I can see absolutely no purpose in buying one if you do anything other than ferry the kids to school or the odd bit of off roading in Waitrose car park.

I will be keeping my Defender & refurbishing it when the time comes - it's 21 years old so only a youngster in "proper" Land Rover years.

I took a long time looking for my D4 & have no intentions of changing that in a hurry - it too will get refurbished as & when it needs it.

When I bought the D4 the dealer was amazed I wanted to see it "as is" & wasn't bothered that it had dirty carpets & needed a wash but then he twigged that I was one of those very rare customers they occasionally get who wanted the car to use off road, for towing large trailers & horse boxes & chucking dogs in the back.

Well done Land Rover.

Probably has valid points but I got bored after 30secs

Land Rover would've been confined to the history books just a few years back if it weren't for its current design direction.
