K & N Panel Filter
After reading some people recommending the K & N replacement air panel I did mine today..
Verdict
Pickup's quicker, on-boost acceleration seams stronger too
Time will tell regarding mpg.
Thanks all (for talking about it and giving me the idea!)57 RRS TDV8

I'm always a bit dubious about these air filter power claims, but I am truely impressed with the difference.
I will be getting it re-mapped soon also, at least I know the engine's breathing properly now..57 RRS TDV8

might be worth doing a search on filters etc on the site as it has been suggested before that if you are going to use the D3 off road in dusty conds, then it's probably worth keeping the standard paper filter to stick back in for those occasions. some filter testing was done by this chap:
As grzesiul said, 6 or 8 screws, 5 minute job, slots straight in.
The paper OEM filter's nearly twice the depth you'll notice.
If I was running the car in a dusty hot environment then I'd not fit this filter, it's an oil jobbie and would clog in no time..but in this country on roads/green lanes I'd expect no problem57 RRS TDV8

To try out the improvement you can expect simply remove the paper filter (in not-too-dusty conditions) and run up the road with no filter. If you can't tell the difference then don't spend the money on a performance filter.
If you do decide to spend then try and find out something about the filtration capabilities of the filter you are going to put in. Gets expensive if they don't filter the muck out...Cheers

I've had the K & N in the D3 for about 20 months now, the same time as it was tuned so it is had to say if it makes a difference to a standard motor. I've also got one on my comp 90 and never had any problems with dust, mud or water. The extra service life is ideal for using in a sealed snorkle system.Chipped, K&N, tow pack, AT2's, Mantec, fridge in boot, invertor, Garmin, laptop/Memory Map, Optima yellow top, Traxide Kit, Phillips Extreme bulbs
