r

know in the past , the council have been happy to have someone maintain there lanes, in cutting bushes etc back

where an on site meeting is arranged , then getting written permission from them in what can and can't be cut , as

its just who to contact in the council that is responsible for these lanes,

after all it's only the branches etc that invade the lane

You can pretty much trim what you like, loppers and a small bow saw are handy to have.
Guy to email @kcc ref lanes is graham rusling, he is also the guy to ask for the gate permit and gate code, which is foc and ONLY relates to the reg no you supply.

Pilgrims way is fine for just about anything so long as you stay on the main flat route, any of the lanes that come off it either up or down the downs will damage your car some severely.

Maybe we could start our own little unofficial club?

There must be 8 or 9 off here that are close enough to take part. If we all got our heads together we could work out a few routes, get permission on them, Disco proof them with the hedge trimmers etc and use them responsibly.

What do you recon?

sounds like a brilliant idea

also got other land rover owners who are interested

from defenders , series , disco and freelanders

think is good regardless of make and model to enjoy off roading

making friends along the way

i've been trying to find out where routes , byways are etc

would be good being a collective

will be looking at some in the next few months for suitability

often thought about the south downs,

If you want one weekend i can show you some of the lanes around bluebell hill theres several within 5 minutes drive in all directions, 5 I can think of the top of my head and two of them will trash your car good and proper other 3 are safe but not flat and dull.

You do have to be careful as with some of them if you drive down the enticing looking entrance the only way out is forward or into the farmers field down a drop and he wont he happy!

Cafe called mickeys diner on the upside of bluebell hill A229 good meeting point.

I'm in too if I can make the date.

Stuart - yes they do meet at Mickey's Diner. Had a look at their website yesterday.

I'd be up for a meet/drive, but unfortunately my Discovery 3 is also a work vehicle so has to look neat and tidy - i.e. arriving home without wing mirrors, or scratched to bits is not an option for me...

think when lanes are found, will make sure there non scratchy ,

like a lot of us where we weren't bothered on having series landies etc, but now owning the discos don't wish to see a hawthorne bush slowly scraping its self down the side with a high pitch of paintwork coming off Big Cry Big Cry

once some decent lanes are found, can then have a good day out , laughs along the way

It's worth signing up for glass, the green lane association, because it gives you access to the trailwise rights of way database. You can search for lanes within a certain radius of a point on a map and view feedback from other users on that lane.
