I had a transit custom with a flat key and damaged door lock we tried a toothbrush, wireless phone charger and all manor of other chargers and none worked we even started another custom and swapped the electronics in the keys over and this didnt work.
As it was deadlocked i had to break the window, when i put the key in it charged ok so it must be coded somehow.

Worth a try. I have used my fluke volt pen which detected voltage at the wife’s Apple Watch charger but not around the ignition lock
