Key fob

My Disco 3 came with two fobs, but the spare has never worked, although I had it checked with a repair centre who said it works but if you don't use the key, it 'forgets' the info.

There's a disco 3 being broken down the road, and that's got two fobs. What would I need off that disco black box wise to make it work on mine?

You have to use a ODB programmer to tell the system about the new key by setting into the mode needed. Most of the cheap adapters can’t do it, you need specific ones such as the Autel or the Gap IID tool.
A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

Thanks, I did look through most of the key fob threads on here, and the consensus was that you couldn't reprogram a disco 3 fob? What Autel reader would you need, or is there only one?

You cannot re program a used D3 fob full stop, you can, D4 but that is no good to you, best option is Eblag from China they cost about £25 but will need programming and the blade cut, make sure they are the same frequency as the original.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

M3DPO is correct.
You can’t reprogrammed an old key to your car, they get blocked and locked to the single car when programmed.

stealer will charge £300 for a new key. Get a £20 spare from Amazon
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09Z7X41V3?ref...asin_title

And an Autel OBD2
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QC6BVVW?ref...asin_title

Programme your own keys, and swap the blade over from your dead fob.

The key I’ve flagged, I bought myself two weeks ago, programmed it with the Autel in under 5 minutes.
I already own the Autel (as do many on here) an OBD pays for itself in an hour with a D3.
