Key fob died, what are the options?

One of the key fobs just died and from experience I know that means replacement.

The obvious option is buying one from TLO but for a fraction of the price I can buy an uncut key fob from our favourite action site.
Can a lock smith cut a key?

Another option, if you have a soldering iron & a spare hour, is to buy the battery (£3) crack the fob open & replace the original one. There's a couple of threads on topic; search for +battery +fob.

Died while in routine service or....

picked out of the spare key cupboard for the first time in ages?

It might simply need recharging

Yep, thats what I did. Waiting for the batteries to arrive.
Found the BBS thread on how to change the battery.

I have had a different problem with both my keys.

The fault was intermittent, it took 40 or 50 presses to lock or unlock with both keys. I even got to the point I was carryign both keys around as one of them would work.

I've found that a sharp tap of the key on the bumper has sorted it out. I presume that there's a loose connection in the key. Seems to have sorted out both of them.
