Key fob programming or pairing with car - Autel AP200 works

Hi, very pleased to confirm that after I received my Autel AP200 unit today I was able to program a second key to work with our D3.

When you buy the unit it has instructions to register. Once you've done this you then 'bind' the unit to your app by scanning a QR code on the unit's case. You can then download the Land Rover data pack for free. Unit was £55 from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Autel-Bluetooth-S...B07QCT1PC5

One pack is included with the unit - from what I understand to add other car manufacturers there is an additional yearly licence fee of about 15-20 quid per brand per year.

Key electronics I used came from a cheap fob from Aliexpress, key cases and cut blades came from https://www.keysinthepost.com/product-cate...-car-keys/ who were excellent - I've seen other good reviews for keysinthepost on here and I now know why!

Anyway, hope this helps anybody who is struggling to get an additional key programmed to work with their car.

Calum

The instructions tell you it will disable the original key - you need to select '2' (if you have two keys in total) when choosing how many keys you want to program and it programs your original and the additional key to the car.

I guess you'll have to start with the key that actually works the ignition now. Hope it works for you!

I had no luck programming the second key...... until I looked at the history tab and noticed that the second key space was 'locked/disabled' so instead I said I was programming 3 keys and did one twice. That worked for me!!

Now all I need to do is get the key cut as the actual key part does not fit well onto the new key body and open cleanly. Either than or rub down the plastic a bit until it fits neatly.

Couple of tips from me

It has to be the AP200. I ordered one that looked the same and it doesn't have this functionality (my own fault for having Amazon and £55 in my head)

Only 1 device can be attached to 1 email address

Autel have them much cheaper themselves, but on extended leadtime if you're not in a hurry

When it says put the key in the ignition, it doesn't need to have been cut, it just goes a little way in and works fine

Will eventually go for an IID, but using it once to code new keys was worth it for me, as I only had 1 battered key.

Once you start playing with the Autel you’ll see it gives you a lot for the cash. Mine lives in the glove box, has got me out of a jam more than once when something generates a code, stopping the car from starting or running rough, pop it out, read, then delete the codes to get you running again.
