key fobs for North America LR4

Hi Guys,

Is it possible to program EU 434Mhz key fob (to be acquired) to open and start LR4 in North America spec which is delivered with 315 MHz keys out of factory?
I guess the main question is about receivers on the car and KVM?

Given there are no working keys at the moment, from price tag perspective maybe it would be better to shift system to EU 434 Mhz keys? This would be interesting if it wouldn't be possible to use 434Mhz keys with this LR4. The question is then if replacing KVM is enough or something else needs to be replaced?

One more question - around immobilizer part - what is the difference between factory ordered key and the new one which could be sourced from eBay? Dealership states that keys they order come clean and not done for particular VIN/car. I'm wondering what's the point then that indie required to order key from LR and not program key from other source. The keys from LR come at 330EUR for the key only.

Background:
Got shipped LR4 from US to EU and upon arrival the key fob gets me "Smart Key not found". Tried all the tricks with fuse, discharging system, etc. btw. car battery had to be replaced too. Key batter has been replaced too. There was no way to use emergency procedure (put the key under steering column). This has been checked with local LR specialized mechanic (not a stealership).

Thanks for help!

No, not possible, remote and car receiver are different!

Thanks - that is the worry but I want to understand where the blocker/difference is in the hardware or software?

In other words is it transmitter/receivers installed on the car the one operating only on specific 315Mhz frequency?

Knowing how electronics are manufactured these days it is cheaper to manufacture transmitter operating on both frequencies and enable one of them via software. This is how it is often done for certification purposes between different countries, even such silly things like WiFi - same transmitter depending on region it discovers it is or is destined will enable specific frequencies or not.
Same might be and most probably is here.

Question is if replacing KVM would do the trick or if it is said that transmitters on the car are the one which need to be replaced.

btw. the base frequency is the same for both regions. Cost wise it is more efficient to manufacture same hw and enable different frequencies based on the region (all about mass production, etc.)

is the transmitter (remote)/receivers (small ECU installed on the roof) installed on the car for operating on specific 315Mhz or 433MHz (callout 15K602).

The remaining parts of the alarm system remain unchanged (with/without keyless entry dependent)

In other words, if you change the receiver to European frequencies version, you MUST use 433MHz remote.

Super cool! Many thanks!
It sounds (to be 100% sure) that swapping just that 15K602 gets me to EU frequencies?

Here's the reason I thought that LR might have such option to "switch" frequency of that 15K602 module, as if keys for BMW have such option why not a module installed on a car. Smile

Yes! and also swap the remote with the EU version (you will need to pairing the new remotes with LR SW [dealer] or an IIDTool)
