Keys... where best to buy replacement keys? |
|
Hi all, I’m sure this will have been covered but I’m looking for replacement keys for my 3. The originals are very worn. I have seen a few threads but any links to purchase are old and don’t work.
Anyone bought replacements recently? Any tips/pointers?
Cheers
Eddie

Is it just the cases that are worn or the blade as well. If they still work, just change over the innards to a new case using the original blade . I just got two cases of ebay for a few pounds

This would work for me although I think the £47 may be a little steep. Is there a deal for having two keys done with the possibility of further work via my customers.
Cheers

Can you remember who you bought them from on eBay?

Search eBay for user second-remote-repairs. I’ve used them before,as have a few other members on here. I most recently had a key refurbished in the summer and it looks and works like a brand new key (LR branded casing too). Very good value and quick service. I was a little sceptical and had my first key returned to my work address as a precaution, but the guy seems decent and genuine. 90 2 1/4 petrol (gone)

Did you get this solved?
I bought a pair of replacement bare fobs from AF and they were fantastic. LR branded on the fobs. Hardest part was finding someone to cut the actual blades - ended up using a guy locally who charged £10 per blade.
Top tip - the old LR fobs seem to be glued closed. If the battery is still okay then just crack the case open using circlip pliers inserted in the slot that’s exposed when you flip out the blade. So much easier than twisting old screwdrivers around. Take care not to damage the circuit board!
Total cost was about £40 for both fobs to be replaced and new blades cut. D3 - 2008.5MY HSE, Stornaway Grey, RSE etc - all the toys
Grabber AT3s, Smoked Sweeping Side Repeaters
D4 Steering Wheel with BBS boards
IID BT Tool - happy to help with fault codes

My old blades fitted the new case so no cost in that direction.
