Knocking noise, replaced upper and lower control arms.

Hi all,

I've recently got back in to the seat of a Discovery 3. Clean example and only 80k on the clock. I've been carrying out a lot of replacement on perishable items.

I still have a knocking noise on the front, it knocks when either side goes over bumps. I've replaced upper and lower control arms but it's still knocking.

Any advice? I've read about the lower steering column? Does this sound like the issue, I'm on a 2 week drive around the Highlands next week and really want to sort it before I leave.
Thanks in advance

Did you replace the anti roll bar bushings?

I haven't yet, will these look obviously worn or can they look fine and still knock? A mechanic has been over it to diagnose the noise but no luck. I'd assume they'd be able to see worn bushes/tie rods etc... the steering one is less easy to see.

Knocking can often be a sign of worn lower arm bushes, but since you have replaced the arms I'd be inclined towards the ARB drop links. Cheap to replace and ideally should have been done with the arms.

as above check the drop links for some reason i always seem to get one that comes loose after a few months when i fit new ones, some seem more awkward to tighten up as its difficult to get spanners on some of them
 please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick,thankyou
