Should have known better. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!!

Evening everybody- I find owning a Landrover like a shakey tightrope walk. Where does the routine maintenance / if it ain’t broke don’t fix line get drawn? From reading various post on here about upper tailgate getting stuck and the pain in the Censored job to get it open ( and having it nearly happen on my D3) I took the thoughtful step to fit an LRP release handle. Fitted a treat but I noticed that when I went to realise the LOWER tailgate it was intermittent. Seemed to work ok if upper had just been opened but button was dead a couple of minutes later. Then it got more intermittent and not not working at all so I can’t get the lower tailgate down. Loads of searches here have mainly bought up the upper tailgate fault or saying about the switch whirring but stuck actuators.
How do I release the lower with out ripping the carpet apart and any guesses to an intermittent then not working switch. Was fine before!!! Sodding thing. TIA[/img]
