l am back :) Now an ex D5 owner
SO the FE left the drive way for the last time today, had it just under a year and 10000 miles, mixed feelings really, i have had 1 x D3 , 4 x D4's, the tech in the new car was great, but I could not ever get comfortable on long journeys, the ride was in my view also too hard, additional with a family of three kids i could just see the car getting trashed, its not as forgiving as the D4 for general wear and tear, added to the fact the cost was so much for not much extra benefit.
So its gone, managed to not take too much of a hit, replaced both the D5 and my old RR S/C with a XXV and RS3 so life is not all bad

Nice exhaust note on the RS3. One of few cars on the market with wider front tyres than rears.
PS Having looked at the D5 again last week the two things that most occurred to me were the really low middle seats (I have 6ft+ teenagers) and the lack of space for my left foot in the RHD Driver's footwell unlike the D3/4 where the space is huge.2014MY Discovery

While we’re at it, what’s an “RS3”?! Ah, got it, it’s a Golf!
Well done on securing the XXV though, very nice too! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)

Yes First Edition, so much happier in a D4, in fact for our use as a family bus, fishing car, load moving, etc its the only car on the market.
I am not one of the D5 haters its a good car, a few issues, but in my mind its too expensive for what it is, i felt more precious over it than my 911 , the final nail in the head was when i looked into getting a towbar fitted, 2K!!! thats just crazy...

^This is crucial for me. In the D3/4, there's space between the brake pedal and foot rest for my left foot. Meaning I can stretch my left leg, not all the way, but enough to make a difference on long journeys. The DS is the same (actually more room to stretch than the D3/4).
Unfortunately the D5 and L405 FFRR do not have this. If I was to get either in the future, I'd need to look into the possibility of altering the foot rest.
The XXV and RS3 is a great combination. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Not just me that noticed that with the D5 then. It must only be an inch or so but it’s very noticeable for someone who likes to sit with their legs spread wide!
I’m also not a D5 ‘hater’ as such - it’s just that the D4 suits us better. I also know what you mean about the D5 not taking the abuse quite as well as a D4. It feels a lot more delicate and while a well used (abused) D4 has ‘character’ I think a D5 would just look shabby.
