Lack of throttle response after starting may be due to a somewhat depleated battery.
This happens to me now and then in winter - when i run the FBH every time i go out, but do not allow time for the battery to recharge.
Then it will sit for 5-30 secs with unresponsive throttle, but it will still roll in D or R, but only at idle revs. When the car is sure that there is enough power it will release throttle.
Maybe try topping up your battery with a charger and see what happens ?

Just to let people know problem diagnosed as being due to EGR valve sticking at low temperature.
This may or may not release the sticky valve, but if it doesn't at least you'll have killed a badger so not all bad.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Al....Would the same thing work with a sticking bi-xenon shutter?
The thing is that there's not many badgers around here.....I was thinking of using a squirrel but I quite like these furry little rascals and don't want to kill one unless it will definitely fix the headlamp...
If you reckon that my chances of success are high, then I'll give it a go. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG
We have badgers to spare. Perhaps we can sort something out using the D3 courier network?
Customs Officer: And tell me sir, do you have any animals on board?
NoDo$h: No, no animals.
CO: Are you sure sir? That looks very much like a badger you have in the back of the car there
ND: Oh yes, it's a badger alright. But it's not an animal, you see we're using them as tools so it's not technically an animal any more.
CO: Rrrrrright. Errrr....... Has it got Bovine TB?
ND: Yes. Well I say yes. Probably is a better answer
CO: And you're taking it to Spain?
ND: Yup
CO: Where they have no natural carriers of bovine TB?
ND: Once again officer you stun me with your knowledge of these things.
CO: Well, I guess it's TB or they get stabbed to death by a bloke in tights waving a red towel around. On your way then sir.
As for your sticking Xenon shutter, I would propose you first attempt to eat cheese with your feet. If that works then no need for NDBadgerTool exports Inc. to swing into action. And I use the term "swing" with good reason.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I'm not even going to try and come up with a witty comeback to that....

I had the same problem today. Started the car in GGS from the night before. Drove down the road and switched it off as I was driving along. Turned to go along another road, put my foot down and nothing at all.
I found that if I took my foot off the accelerator then back on a few times it suddenly went back to nomal Global Warming.... I'm luvvin it
Putting my sensibal hat on for a moment, slipping it in neutral and then putting back in drive seems to solve it on my 08 auto.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Had this problem with mine and eventually the crank sensor was replaced (5 hour job but covered under warranty). OK for a bit but has now done it half a dozen times again so it's going back to the dealers week after next.
You get some throttle (manual box) but effectively it's in get you home mode.

Had the same with my '05 HSE.
The dealer told me that with the "old" tdv6's there is a small problem with water accumulation in the fuel filter. They now replace the filter with every 24k service instead of once every two services.
After the replacement problem didn't occur anymore.

Auto Transmission Disengaging
The Auto Transmission in My Disco3 2005 has started to slip. Really not a nice feeling as you go to make a nifty getaway from the roundabout or doing a right at a T junction. Changed ATF and filter. No change. Suggestion of a software update but not sure why that would suddenly change on a car that was running really well. 48000m on the clock. Any ideas?
