lack of screen washing

Can any one tell me if there is only one washer pump that does both the front and back ?

Mine appear to have stopped working today - I do not think it has frozen up, as there is plenty of antifreeze type screen wash in the mix and the jet seem clear. I can hear the relay being activated, but no sound of the pump.

Check the fuse F11 in the CJB - there's been quite a few posts on this over the last few days. Original 10Amp fuses blow if the pump is used when frozen, so it was recommended is a TSB to increase the rating to 15Amp.

Exactly the same happened to me, but it was -8C this morning. I only pressed the wash button briefly, but seems to have been enough. The heaters on the jets seem to have gone too, as there are no melted circles around them, which is odd. There was yesterday though!

Me too Sad
I didn't expect the washer jets to work immediately Shocked (-6 this morning) but after 1 hour of driving the washer jets were still frozen, a dribble of water was all that was apparent - I would have expected that I'd be able to have a little squirt within 15 mins or so...
The MTR's are finally ON - you beautiful beast you!!!

I reactivated my Heated nozzles by removing and reseating this fuse F12 and Relay R4 (I think) in the BJB.

If the relay clicks then your fuse is good.

Mine were like that on Sunday, after about a 20 mins driving the bottle and hoses must have melted and they started to work OK.

I rarely get melted circles around the nozzels but I do see steam coming off them and they are clear of ice quite quickly.

I did notice my front heated screen was not working today until I was a few yards up the road. D3 was sat with the engine running for 5 mins before I drove off. Everything else was working inc heated seats, maybe the screen is low down priority wise in the power regime. Was -8 and not that frosted up as its very dry at the moment.

I have checked the fuse F11 in CJB, this is ok, and I have done some 150 miles this morning and still no good (I was hoping the engine heat would have thawed the pump if it was frozen)

I'Ve had this very same problem too. I too can hear the relays but no motors, except for the headlamps washer motors (no wash though).
On NYE I drove to the Lakes from Stoke with no washers Censored ing nightmare Evil or Very Mad
Checked all fuses, I would have thought at even -9c that the heated washers should work? Rolling Eyes

Hate to keep making "me too" posts, but this is exactly my situation. I'll check at lunch to see if anything has melted and see what's working. Crying or Very sad

Heated nozzles will work fine... but if your tubing is all frozen as well as the bottle... it will take a lot of warm air to thaw it all out.

best thing is to prime the washer system before you leave the D3 overnight to make sure there is fluid in the pipes and that it hasn't all drained back into bottle / lowest part of the system.

I park on a slope facing down hill and priming usually works for me... unless its really cold like today.

At -8 the fluid I have is probably on the cusp of not being able to cope with the cold TBH.

I am glad in a way to know I am not alone, lets hope a thaw rectifys the situation.

I may try a fan heater out of the office window at lunch time.

'just checked the washers and everything works ok (windscreen and headlamps) I can only assume that the heated jets are not functioning. I'll try ye olde replace F12 fuse and see what happens tomorrow morning...good luck people!
