from 1st January, ladders have to meet a new standard - whether for domestic or commercial use they must all have the latest accreditation.
As a result, Screwfix (and others I guess ? ) are selling off any that don't have the accreditation … regardless of whether they would meet it or not. (150kg load IIRC).
There are some bargains … 11 tread combi stairwell/ladder/platform is £28 instead of £78 … but you will not find all at any one store as I understand it. not sure if on-line orders will get you any either.
that said, if they are in a branch near you and you need them … bargain.

Regs came in some time ago but it was still possible to sell ladders certified under the previous regulations "during a transition period" that ends 31/12/18 … so, as above, retailers with the old ladders have to get rid of them.
