Kids are 2,7 and 17 (17yo may not join) plus we have dog.
Don't mind driving if needed. Would be nice to be near lake with a stroll through site and country to get to it.
Like to be able to run in woods on hills, round lake direct from site if poss
Need to be close to activities for kids, water sports, go ape etc., all good 
Site needs to have some entertainment for kids, could be just playground or even a clubhouse
Would rather be in a sensible site and not one full of oiks  MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

I don't think I know a site that meets all those needs and I used it live in the Lakes 😊
skelwith will give you the views and runs, no kids club but loads of exploring although yours may be too young.
CC sites have small play areas but won't again meet your needs... Watersports are not really on Windermere since the speed restrictions, go ape is what it it.
Mine are 10 & 13 so hard to compare. Mark

Park coppice cc site, it's one of my favourites. You can walk into coniston, direct lake access - it's fab

We have stayed at Braithwaite Fold site, it used to be a CC site but I think last year changed to C&CC,
Site very close to town, nice and clean and was very difficult to book as very popular. Pitches are not the largest but we enjoyed our stay and would revisit.
We went at Easter 2 years ago and had glorious weather.
