Lake District Tin Tenting Tips

This'll be our first long stay in a tin tent so I'm looking for tips on sites with EHU for 7-10 days in August in or around the Lake District?

Family of two adults, two children (8&3) and possibly the dog. Another family of two adults, one child and a dog joining us.

Any sites we should try or even ones to avoid and any tips welcome? Thumbs Up

Keswick CCC site is my favourite site in the country. Perfect location, perfect views and perfect atmosphere. Book quick though as it sells out fast.

Thanks for all your responses.

Because we are going with friends we put your recommendations to them too and have decided to go with Keswick CCC. Seemed the best as there will be three kids under 10 going and me and my mate are dead keen on getting back on the water.

All now booked and fully paid-up members too.

Thumbs Up

You will enjoy I am sure. Can't wait to get up there again in a couple of weeks time Very Happy

Aim to arrive as close to their earliest arrival time as you can (think its midday) or a bit later in the afternoon. It's sometimes not unusual for a queue to start to form on the drive before midday waiting for them to start the check in process, which then takes a while for them to clear. On one visit last year we arrived at about 1 pm and waited in a queue 10 units deep which took an hour before we got shown to our pitch.

When we went this April we arrived at 2.30 and there was only one unit in front of us waiting to check in. Both were Saturdays situation may be different on less busy days of the week.

You haven't experienced the refurbished main shower block then? Definitely a vast improvement Laughing

A 5+ hour trip from Gloucestershire on a Friday will mean a mid to late afternoon arrival for sure, hopefully meaning we'll miss any queues.

Also seen a lot of negative reviews on the old facilities and thankfully as many positive ones on the new!
