and the more anal will spot the familiar looking kerbstones by nearside front wheel

That seems a mighty high spec for a GS ..... sunroof, leather, heated seats & more! Some must have paid a lot over standard GS price when it was new 
If spec is correct then it's a good buy for someone. Nick

On the dealer website they seem to have used exactly the same photo for 3 different D4's. Is this an LR supplied library photo that dealers can use?

Not that I'm anal about these things or have time to waste but I just counted 67 D4's for sale on Autotrader using exactly the same photo as above and ranging in price from £25k to £51k plus. Can we start a competition to find the most used photo?
I'll get my coat.........

It is used by LR for all the adverts where they don't currently have a photo of the actual vehicle,
They just photoshop it for the colour change.... If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works
