Cteks are specifically designed for layups - classics, toy cars, posh cars etc.

I think it would be strange to void electrical warranty for using a battery charger!

I have a 12 year old Vauxhall Vectra runabout that I left parked in front of the garage since I last used it in October.
No special precautions and even left the handbrake on!

Started first time and drove fine when I needed it yesterday! Thumbs Up

I have laid up vehicles for months on end for a number of years with no preparation and with no adverse affects until my first car with an alarm fitted. This flattened the battery and consequently the central locking didn't work and the only door with a keyhole was hard up against the garage wall!

I always now use a dedicated trickle charger such as Optimate or Oxford Optimiser, and these have been available for bikes for years. Easy to fit and will do your battery a bit of good due to their charging methods.

Whatever you do don't get anybody just to start the engine every so often as this just produces condensation within the engine.

The trickle charger they have is a Porsche one, designed for Porkers that are laid up over the winter. They'll just use the croc clips & I'll sort out a proper connection in the summer. I'll also get them to make sure the manual lock is working. They can then use the proper Sealy charger to get the battery fully sorted once they are back. Thumbs Up

The Porsche one IS C-Tek with Porsche logo Thumbs Up

Better with a tail than croc clip, the tails are only a couple of quid (see last post), but ensure they get the correct sized diameter end for battery as they give a choice Wink
