Leaking sunroof? or not!

Just thought i'd share this experience with you all.

When i bought the disco3 i noticed it was taking on water in the footwells, so it went back to the dealer for them to check the sunroof, they cleared the pipes but it was still taking on water when it rained, so back it went and they cleaned the pipes, but it was still taking on water, they pulled the pipes out, took the head lining out and still couldn't find out where the water was getting in from.

After 5 trips to the dealer they sarted looking elsewhere and found the leak was in fact coming from the 'A' post outside black covers, at some point they had been removed and some of the clips that hold it on had broken off, this was leaving a hole in the 'A' post and letting water in between the skins and running down to the footwell behind the plastic kick panel (also onto a electrical connector block).

I can't take this as gospel, but it is what they have said to me and no more water as yet.

Hope this helps anyone with a leak they can't find.

Lee

Unrelated but for info : if you get a leak on the Right Hand B-Pillar at head height, this can be caused by a crimped drain tube when the RAI has been fitted.

Surely on the continent the one by his head would be the Left Hand B-pillar Whistle

Sorry Jean-Paul, we just get used to abbreviations.. If the Raised Air Intake has been fitted its possible it has squashed a bit of the drain tube. but in that case you'll get a leak showing in the headlining/B-Pillar trim. If you have water in the footwell it could also be the aircon drain tube that has become disconnected. I think there was a thread and pictures somewhere.

ok thx for the translation.luckily I don't have it ... YET... but i wiil keep it in mind when I will fit it, although i don;t know how it can affect the inside of the drain in the pillar.

my main concern is , since mycar is bare naked now because of the rain, to eliminate every chance of water coming in the car. so can we sum up the reasons ? if you can get me the link it would be very helpfull.

so far i have cleaned the sunroof drains perfectly ..
