At least they'll have to fork out for a replacement. No way an insurer will pay out.
The thing that annoys me most about these episodes is that the occupants self-rescue and then sod off leaving the vehicle abandoned. Someone then reports it and the emergency services waste time and effort, not forgetting risking their lives, trying to rescue people that are safe and well.
Another example of people that should be fined and the money given to the MRT etc.
Quote:Cleveland Mountain Rescue said they were called to the scene at 00:31 GMT on Tuesday by North Yorkshire Police.
The rescue team were initially unaware the car had been abandoned several hours earlier and conducted searches to see if anyone was trapped or had been washed downstream.
The team deployed 22 members and was at the scene for five hours.
That's 110 man hours wasted. So a grand each from the occupants to cover the cost seems reasonable to me. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they were always going to have to do from the very beginning: SIT DOWN AND TALK!"
