These are the DRLs I think, the daylight running lights, you might find you need to select them in the car settings menu, might be as simple as choosing ‘Auto’ on the headlight selector … Engine on and not in park they should be on.____

HSE spec of that era all came with Xenon lights as standard IIRC, which included the 'fairy light' DRL of individual little LED bulbs and should come on when you turn on the engine and engage a gear.
Other specs (XS, GS) came with halogen lights as standard and although they appeared to have the LED fairy lights, there were no bulbs fitted and couldnt be retro fitted. Ask me how i know
First check for me would be that you actually have fully working Xenon lights fitted to the car and somebody hasnt downgraded the headlights for some reason. There should be a sticker on the top of the light unit that says either HAL (Halogen) or HID (Xenon)2015 D4 HSE

This is brilliant thank you. They are 2 miles from my house and I had no idea they were there!
Perfect, I think you’ll probably need to make their acquaintance at some time. Really good to have a local indie expert.____

Ok so they are xenon lights, with halogen main beam. Sticker on them says 2012 which shows they are original. Good.
The led signature lights come on with the parking light switch.
The lights I assume are the parking lights (below the indicators) do not come on.
Yes that’s right I think, I’m not 100 per cent sure but IIRC these are cornering light, they were not standard on most models but I’d have thought the HSE has the. Mark if you have bulbs in those lights, start the car up and get A to drive round in the dark while you watch what’s happening; these lights should come on as she turns the wheel.____

The signature lights are there on an HSE, but whether they act as Daytime Running Lights (DRL) is optional. Annoyingly it’s not an option you can choose from a dashboard menu, it needs a diagnostic tool (Gap IID or similar) to edit the settings in the Car Configuration File (CCF). Literally just set DRL to enabled. There are various options (Canadian, Scandinavian) depending on whether you want the DRL on when in Park, etc.
I think when new DRL were enabled by default, but not all owners liked them so a previous owner may have had them switched off.
Editing the CCF with the Gap needs a tool licensed to your VIN or a professional multi-car license. If you don’t have one, I’d pop to a friendly independent and ask them to put your lights on. Takes about 5 minutes including resetting the clock after the car reboots, and they shouldn’t charge you much.
