I have an ATMB tag, and the instructions show it being fitted in the ‘grey’ area near the mirror. That was fine on our MY2010 D4, as it was nearly all ‘grey’, but our newer D4 has a more ‘blacked out’ rather than ‘grey’ area. Does anyone know if the tag will still work in that area, or will it need to be elsewhere?
Thanks.

The issue with the tag is about the coatings/metalisation of screens that stop the tag being read.
I presume this includes heated screens.
The grey area is where there isn't a coating.
I've used cars where they work in the grey area.
The area in the pic looks black with the usual grey area around it which I've no experience of.
The ATMB people should have an answer if you email them as it can't be unique land rover.

Hi Ipken,
I see that you’re just down the road from me!
Thanks for your reply. On the ‘new’ D4, the grey bit is very narrow (not as wide as the tag). I have asked ATMB, (and sent them a photo), but just received the stock answer that it needs to be in the grey bit.
I don’t fancy getting stuck at the first barrier, and encountering the wrath of our Continental lorry driver friends!

The wifes Merc had NO grey bit at all.
It was just screen lol and had all the fancy stuff in the glass. Just stuck it in centre by the wirror and it was fine.

I would leave it off and then get passenger to hold in desired spot at first toll. If it works stick it on....

Good idea Gaz!
I have posted on the ‘French’ part of the forum just in case anyone has a definitive answer.

I am just confirming that the tag works brilliantly! Initially my wife held it behind the black area on the windscreen (not the narrow grey bit on ours) for the first few barriers, but since then I have attached it and it’s worked every time.
Info only!

Pleased it worked. Used a friend's on a motorbike trip by holding it up. Off to France in car to remind me how far the alps are then in D3 in ski season
