Liber -T toll tag still suitable?

Hi heading to Normandy with the d3 and tin tent for first time. Still debating getting a tag or not for tolls. I've read that it isn't available to our cars as we are classed as class 4 but have read that folk just ignore this and are billed as class 2.
Secondly does this /will this work out cheaper for us going to Normandy? I have no idea how many toll booths we will be going through to get to just past Cien.
Help

As stated, I don't think there are any tolls going that way?

We have tag and generally you will get through as Class 2 without issues - it is no cheaper than paying at toll booths but can save you a few mins if there are queues.

If the system identifies you as Class 4 (HGV) by the sensors before tolls then the gate won't open as it know tag is a car one and thinks you're trying to fiddle the system. Pressing the help button has always sorted that out very quickly with minimal French needed - I think they have cameras on each lane and see the issue immediately.

To be honest, unless you're travelling at peak times time saving is minimal - we generally go to a manned toll booth and give them the tag - they scan and we're off.

Brilliant things without the van though - particularly the drive through at 30kph ones

I have been through France quite a number of times but not with my disco and particularly with a roof tent on. Will I be a class 2 with tent on as I am about 2.9 metres with suspension set to normal ?

According to the FAQs on Sanef website roofboxes would still be charged as Class 1

If you are a Class 1 vehicle and have a roof load such as a roof box or bicycle that takes your overall height over 2m, you will still be charged as a Class 1 vehicle. There is equipment (laser and 3D imaging) in the Liber-t lanes that can distinguish between 'Class 1 + roofload' and Class 2 vehicles. You should be charged at Class 1 rate.

This is my experience, although have had to retrospectively query bill as was charged Class 2 - very easy online!

Not sure how roof tent counts? My guess is as a roofbox

Here's a screen grab from my recent recent trip through France to the Pyrenees in a D4 with roof rack and spare wheels, jerry cans and fire pits on the top.

All Class 1.

I concur. I have never paid anything but class 1 and I go through with a roof box too.

Overall - brilliant devices.

They had different options , at the time the Evasion plan was the best option. I have no monthly fees for non usage months etc. Not sure if it's still relevant as I've been on this plan since 2013.

They still do the evasion plan which, if I'm reading correctly (and I hope I am, because I've just signed up... Shocked ) is E1,60 for each month it is used with "no commitment". Hopefully, there'll be no recurring charge until next year, God willing, when I'll return to Frogglie.

I don't imagine it will save anything on time (and sometimes the 'T' lanes are busier than the pay as you go ones) and I know it will be the same on fees but for the convenience of not needing to take tickets, get out and pay on the Post Office card etc, it should be a bit of a help. Thumbs Up
