How likely is it that an AMK compressor goes wrong?
Got the yellow light, turns into red sometimes and dissepearts after short time again.
Special programs are not working either.
Can't hear it working when i start up the car.
Fuses are okay. Disconnect the battery (30min) didn't help either.
Then checked which type of compressor was mounted, the AMK one. 3 years old, replaced by previous owner.
Next dealer is far away so can't check codes just like that.
Do these go wrong? They are not repairable, right?

It might be worth checking for leaks elsewhere on the system first. Likely culprits being front or rear levelling blocks or the reservoir. Spray some soapy water on hose junctions.

Sorry just read that again. If you can’t hear it working, get a meter on it to see if it’s getting power

I'll do that. If there is a leak somewhere i guess it is between compressor and tank, the car is perfectly leveled since wednesday and 200miles driving.
I'll borrow a box "leak detector" from work. 😁

edit: that's my plan for tonight. I won't accept a broken AMK compressor after just 3 years.
I have had a couple of AMk compressors fail that where new, but not supplied by LR, I got mine replced without any hassle.
There seems to be a problme on AMK units with the exhuast valve sticking, I have done quite a few that have stuck. I have done my own car twice now for the same fault.
Its an easy fix, just remove the small air pipe from the exhaust chamber and twist off the cap, pull the valve out ( if you can I have had to remove the pump on some cars ) and clean it and grease with silcone grease and replace.

If the light goes out and you do not end up on the bump stops the compressor probably IS working.
It may not start up when you start the car as there is sufficient air in the air bags or reservoir.
After a soapy (car shampoo + water) spray bottle test..
I would check for a leaking air tank - usually these rust on the TOP .. so it is not easy to see.
Then the valve block - you might need to remove and rebuild if they have white reside in them from the drier dessicant breaking down. The valve blocks can leak internally so you may not see or hear the air escaping.
Hope this helps1 TR6 Rusting away quietly

Removed the compressor now. The valve doesn't seem to be stuck, but i will clean it and lube it tomorrow at work.
The tank is very rusty, will take it off tomorrow and look for leaks/rust holes. Then if needed i'll weld it and put it into place again.
Haven't measured any wires yet, just forgot it again.
There was only pressure in the small fitting, not on the big one.

If the compressor is still off it is worth checking the desiccant in the drier unit - the little balls could shot
This was the condition of the desiccant in my last one - Must stop buying shiny toys....

cleaned the valve and tested it, everything is fine.
tonight i'll disassemble the tank. If i can't see any damage there i will try to read fault codes somewhere... No more guessing

If it doesnt dry out well, any industrial packaging supplies company will sell you it - its the same stuff in the little sachets that come with every electrical item.
RS Components sell it in 100g bags that are around €2.50 each from memoryMust stop buying shiny toys....
