Axle stands could be useful and are rated high enough for a disco as well but some other bits could be of use to people FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

Plenty of heated discussion regarding these recently, consensus was not to scrimp on an utterly vital piece of safety kit.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Thing is if they are rated to 2tonne each that means they could take 4tonne.
Extended height mode, stick the stands as high as they can go and it should stop the vehicle from falling on you or at least give you plenty of time to get out
Some members own more than just a disco though so for road cars the little jack and stands are usefull but sometimes worth keeping an eye on their offers FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

Defo handy to have multiple items, jacks, stands, etc. Holding up exhausts, jacking suspension up, etc, etc.
I use my early days equipment (Vauxhall cars) for such jobs, 2 tonne trolley jack and have some folding stands like mentioned here and they do come in handy.
But as an axle stand, I use 6 tonne on Disco, plus large 3 tonne jack.D3 HSE + Java + Alpaca + Privacy + ECU Upgrade

The tool kit in the case seems a decent price at £69, worth buying just to keep in the carIf it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works
Work well and hold up D3 when on emergency wheel change just in case of a jack failure, I have 16T ones at home for working, but as a roadside emergency

Used them on my shogun sport when I had it, sat on them for 2 days while trying to get a rear brake caliper. Done that job fine as said they fold up nice and are nice and light.

Might be a silly thought , but for that money couldn't you buy 2 pairs and spread the load on 4 stands which would give you a far greater safety margin.

Good idea ^^^^
And yes for £20 you would be able to have an 8tonne load spread over them.
If safety is a worry then you should worry about the wheels. They can only take 1080kg or thereabouts each so thats a smidge over 1/2 what these stands take.. I think that covers it really for safety but that debate can reign on in another thread somewhere else as this is for bargains FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

It's not quite like that, the wheels have a much bigger load area compared to the axle stand, they are also fixed to the hub.
Also, it can be tricky getting 4 axle stands under the chassis nice and flat, 8 would be silly, you also have to think about access under the vehicle too, ie, getting under and back out.
Height would also be an issue if you need to get right under.
But, in principle they would hold the weight. D3 HSE + Java + Alpaca + Privacy + ECU Upgrade

Totally agree
When working underneath the vehicle [ incl at the wheel arches] I wouldn't even trust a major brand.
I'd always ensure that there's additional support somewhere else on the vehicle [again with a known brand] in case one item should fail.
Wouldn't take any chances on my personal safety no matter how remote when it comes to the articulation and weight of the Disco....... always on the road less travelled 🚧
